Slade

Slade manufactures all of its own patented graphite yarns. The advantage is that each individual strand has its own unique core made of high tensile carbon fiber. The graphite yarns are protected by US & EU patents. They were developed to conduct heat like steel alloys, to transfer the heat away from the pump shaft and valve stem.

Slade Packing turns the stuffing box into a heat sink, conducting heat away from shaft, in many applications, eliminating expensive leakage previously needed to cool the stuffing box.

Slade Pump Packings
Slade is capable of handling the toughest of pump applications. Whether you are dealing with high temperatures, high pressures, heavy abrasives or virtually any other application, Slade has the right packing for your application.

Soot Blower Packing
Slade offers the best, most reliable Soot Blower seal technology, combining carbon fiber reinforced graphite foil with composite bearing rings. Sealing soot blowers under the toughest service conditions for extended service life and equipment reliability. Tests have proven the extended life of Slade Soot Blower Packing Sets with minimal wear and less amperage – even in extreme conditions outside typical usage.

Reinforced with Flat Metal

Individual graphite foil weaving yarn is reinforced with stainless steal strips; Yarns are then woven; Woven compressed gasket sheet is then rolled into cardboard tubes for shipment.
Available in sizes as large as 2000 x 4000 sheets

Advantages

Surface nodules promote flexibility and flow into oxidized surfaces & scratches, pores and steam cuts.
Flat metallic leaf springs, jacketed with graphite foil, make this sheet the most resilient gasket you will need.
It takes physical abuse like no other graphite foil, handling and feeling like tough leather.
Pyro-Tex gasket sheet eliminates the need for a compressing ring to prevent crushing.
Layering of sheets allows for greater thicknesses.
Eliminates shipping pallets: Gasket Sheets individually packaged in 75 mm cardboard tubes for easy storage.
Single sheet thickness: nominal 2 mm.

Pyro-Tex Joint Sealants

Slade’s self-forming gasket, the Pyro-Tex Joint Sealant, is made from patented graphite-foil encapsulated carbon-fiber reinforced yarns (also available with stainless-steel foil yarns). This self-forming gasket when in place is compressed to fit snugly.
